Area deputies, police chase stolen pickup truck through Rugby
Law enforcement officers from Pierce County pursued a stolen pickup truck as it passed through the Rugby area late at night on Dec. 16.
A statement released by Pierce County Sheriff Josh Siegler said the pursuit began in Rolette County, just south of Dunseith, when deputies there attempted to stop a black Ford F-150 pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Minot. The truck continued south on North Dakota Highway 3, entering Pierce County at approximately 11:30 p.m. The chase continued west on US Highway 2.
“Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, ND Highway Patrol, Rugby Police Department, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, and Ward County Sheriff’s Office units became involved in the pursuit,” the statement read. “The pursuit ended in the Granville Cemetery, on the East side of Granville.”
“Two juvenile males, and one juvenile female were taken into custody on scene. The female juvenile and one of the male juveniles attempted to flee on foot from the scene a short time later they were taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement added.
