Rugby American Legion to host Veterans Day ceremony
The Rugby Clarence Larson American Legion Post 23 will observe Veterans Day with a ceremony Thursday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierce County Memorial Hall.
Public Relations Officer John Gustafson said the ceremony will be simulcast on local radio station KZZJ.
“It is suggested that anyone not fully vaccinated (for COVID-19) wear a mask if possible,” Gustafson said.
Post 23 Commander Kirk Seaver will deliver the keynote speech at the event.
“There will be a poster display depicting different aspects of the Vietnam War since Post 23 is a Vietnam 50th Commission Commemorative Partner,” Gustafson said.
“There will also be an opportunity for those who served on active duty from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, to receive a lapel pin in recognition of their service, regardless of location served,” Gustafson added. “There will also be recognition for two surviving spouses of Vietnam veterans. The public is highly encouraged to attend this event honoring those who served, both living and dead.”
Lunch catered by Stephanie Halvorson will follow the event. The Rugby Unit 23 American Legion Auxiliary will serve dessert.
