An Esmond man is dead after his all-terrain vehicle rolled over in a field 10 miles northwest of Rugby on Oct. 30.

A statement released by the Pierce County Sheriff Josh Siegler said 26-year-old Zachery Sveund, Esmond “was driving an ATV when the ATV overturned in a field near the intersection of 69th Street Northeast and 20th Avenue Northeast.” Siegler said dispatchers received the call about the incident at 11:09 a.m.

“The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Rugby Ambulance and the Pierce County Coroner all responded to the 1900 Block of 69th Street Northeast, approximately 10 miles west and 4 miles north of Rugby,” Siegler said.

“Sveund was pronounced dead at the scene. Sveund was transported to the North Dakota Forensic Lab for an autopsy. This accident investigation remains open, pending results of the autopsy,” Siegler added.
