JDA approves bid for Chalmers mowing

By Sue Sitter - | Jun 12, 2021

The Rugby Job Development Authority voted in a special meeting to award a contract for mowing services on lots in the JDA-owned Chalmers Addition to local resident Jason Solem.

The JDA board voted unanimously in the June 2 special meeting to hire Solem, whose bid fell under two others received by the board. The other bids offered to do the work for $600 each time.

Solem submitted a bid to mow the lots in the subdivision for $450 each time. Solem’s bid specified he carried insurance and would use a 48-inch John Deere mower and a 46-inch Zero Turn Husqvarna mower.

Mayor Sue Steinke estimated the total cost to the JDA for the summer job would be as much as $5,400, assuming the mowing was done approximately once a week from June to August. The cost could increase to $7,200, assuming Solem mowed the lots through September.
