Great Plains Food Bank mobile food pantry to stop in Rugby
The Great Plains Food Bank’s mobile food pantry will make a stop in Rugby Wednesday, April 7, at 3:30 p.m. in the NAPA Auto Parts parking lot.
“All in need of food assistance are welcome,” said Jared Slinde, communications manager for Great Plains Food Bank in an email to the Tribune.
No pre-registration for the distribution is required, although those picking up food will be asked to complete a short intake form at the site, according to the food bank.
Food will be distributed to persons in their cars, although walk-ups are welcome. Cars can begin lining up 30 minutes before the distribution begins. The distribution will end at 4:30 p.m.
“As the only food bank servicing the entire state of North Dakota, Rugby and the surrounding area is a large concentration for us here,” Slinde said. “We look to continue to return to Rugby once each quarter with our mobile food pantry as the need remains high.”
“We just finished our largest year ever at the Great Plains Food Bank as COVID-19 impacted many lives throughout the state,” Slinde added. “We served more than 43,000 additional clients in 2020 and 5 million additional meals. Those were both easily records for us. And we know that the need is going to continue to be high and we are committed to providing this service to all those that are in need.”
Those with questions or wishing to volunteer at the distribution point can contact Rachel Monge, regional services manager at (701) 390-2513 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Pierce County Food Pantry in the Rugby Armory also distributes food to persons needing assistance and accepts donations. Those with questions about the Pierce County Food Pantry can contact Vonnie Degenstein at 776-5597.
