Local law enforcement agencies launch food drive

By Staff | Nov 14, 2020

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in Rugby has teamed up with regional law enforcement agencies and the North Dakota Fraternal Order of Police to begin a food drive for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Minot.

A statement from the NDFOP said, “Higher than usual requests for services this year had nearly depleted the food pantry in the DVCC’s emergency shelter. Last month the NDFOP Lodge #7 initiated a food drive with drop off points in each county the DVCC serves. While this effort’s initial steps have been very successful, we wish to continue spreading the word as we get closer to Thanksgiving and the holiday season. This event is scheduled through the end of the year, however we will continue so long as it remains productive.”

The sheriff’s office will accept shelf stable or non-perishable foods. A donation box is located in the law enforcement center’s lobby located at 110 Industrial Park Road in Rugby.

Other participating locations include:

-Minot Police Department

-Surrey Police Department

-Velva City Hall

-McHenry County Sheriff’s Office (Towner)

-Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office (Bottineau)

-Renville County Sheriff’s Office (Mohall)
