Rugby fire department discusses July calls, October plans

By Staff | Aug 15, 2020

The Rugby Volunteer Fire Department held its regular monthly meeting Aug. 10 at the Rugby Fire Hall.

Chief Derek Bush reported three calls for July, with one to assist a person trapped in a grain bin and one for a grass fire. A call to respond to a semi truck fire was canceled.

The department reported a balance of $89,347 in useable funds. Bush said the department also discussed truck maintenance during the meeting.

In other business, the department discussed plans for Fire Prevention Week in October, and discussed how to mark the week in Rugby schools due to modifications restricting on-campus visits.

“Not much going on now because of COVID,” Bush said. “Our meetings have been pretty short.”
