Free testing event to be held in Rugby Tuesday

By Staff | Jul 2, 2020

The Pierce County Office of Emergency Management will partner with community healthcare providers to offer free COVID-19 testing Tuesday morning in the parking lot of NAPA Auto Parts on U.S. Highway 2 in Rugby.

Heart of America Medical Center and Lake Region District Health Unit personnel will offer the drive-thru style testing from 7:30-10:30 a.m., or until the tests are gone, according to information from Pierce County Emergency Manager Kelsey Siegler.

The tests are available to “anyone who wants to be tested, age 12 or older,” according to information provided by Siegler.

No insurance information or proof of residency will be required of those who receive the tests.

People seeking tests must enter the NAPA parking lot at its west entrance, drive toward the back of the building and exit to the east after testing.

A statement provided by Siegler gave further instructions for those seeking tests.

“Those wanting to be tested are to prefill the testing forms found at www.piercecountyndresources.com,” the statement read.

“Once you arrive at the (test site), you are to remain in your vehicle with the windows up or cracked slightly. You will be directed to a line where someone will be processing your testing forms. Here, you are to hold the forms up to the window for them to view. Next, you will be directed to pull forward to the testing site. During the testing process, you are to roll your window down for the sampling,” the statement added. “Please bring a hard writing surface and a pen.”

Persons receiving tests will be contacted with their test results in 72 hours, the information said.

Tests would take approximately 15 minutes, “however, wait times may be longer,” the information added.
