Rugby City Council reorganizes
In the wake of elections, the Rugby City Council held a reorganizational meeting Tuesday evening.
Oaths of office were administered to council members Matt Lunde-who will represent Ward 1; Gary Kraft-who was re-elected to represent Ward 2 by a 90-68-1 vote margin; Frank LaRocque-who will continue to represent Ward 3 after winning by a 163-2 margin; and Wayne Trottier-who will represent Ward 4.
The council voted to elect Kraft as council president and LaRocque as vice president, respectively.
The council also approved committee appointments. Council members were assigned to the following committees:
RECREATION: LaRocque, Joel Berg (Ward 3), Dave Bednarz (Ward 2)
PUBLIC WORKS: Bednarz, Kraft, Chuck Longie (Ward 4).
PERSONNEL: Jackie Albrecht (Ward 1), Longie, LaRocque
FINANCE: Kraft, Albrecht, Trottier
PUBLIC SAFETY: Longie, LaRocque, Trottier
CITY PLANNING & ZONING: Trottier, Albrecht
ORDINANCE: Kraft, Lunde, Albrecht
BUILDINGS & PROPERTY: Berg, Lunde, Bednarz
LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER: Kraft, Trottier
JOB DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY: Kraft
CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU: Albrecht
COUNTY PLANNING & ZONING: Kraft
LIBRARY BOARD: Berg
Rugby Mayor Sue Steinke recognized outgoing Ward 1 Councilman Bruce Allen Rheault for his years of service. Rheault served on the council from 2004 to 2020.
Oaths of office were also administered to Rugby Park Board and Tree Committee member Tim Bartsch; and new Building Inspector and Planning & Zoning Board member Wayne Schmaltz.
