Rec department to hold sand volleyball program
The Rugby Recreation Department this week announced a new summer sand volleyball program for elementary school-age girls.
The announcement posted on social media read: “We will be working on some basic fundamentals and skills followed up with some sand volleyball games. Each day will be a mix of skills and games.”
“We will be following the same guidelines put forth by the Rugby Recreation Program,” the announcement added. “We will limit close contact and periodically sanitize balls that are being used.”
Sessions will be held June 9, 11,16,18, 23 and 25 from 11 a.m. to noon at the sand volleyball courts near the baseball diamonds at Ellery Park.
Girls going into third grade through seventh grade are eligible to participate in the program. Cost for participation in the program is $20.

Music in the Park 2020 season canceled
The Rugby Lions Club decided last week to cancel its 2020 Music in the Park season.
Music in the Park Chair Kathy Kirchofner told the Tribune the decision was made “due to COVID-19, mainly.”
“We had canceled through the end of June prior to our last meeting,” Kirchofner said. “We have now decided to postpone (the season) until next summer. We’ll celebrate our 25th anniversary then.”
