Mandan man arrested after in-county pursuit
A Mandan man was taken into custody in Pierce County Monday afternoon following a multi-county chase.
Richard Jay Lavallie Jr., 27, was charged with driving under suspension and fleeing in a motor vehicle – both Class A misdemeanors. According to a release from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Lavallie was arrested without incident after Rugby Police deployed a tire deflation system two miles south of Rugby, which stopped the red 2009 Chevrolet Impala he was driving.
Early in the afternoon, the Pierce County Sheriff’s office had received a report of a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle driven by Lavallie fleeing law enforcement in Burleigh County and traveling north on Highway 14.
At 3:07 p.m. Monday, the sheriff’s office received notification that the vehicle was north of Anamoose and was being pursued by units from Sheridan and Wells County sheriff’s offices.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department were also involved in the pursuit.
Class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
