Relay for Life postponed, no date set

By Staff | Mar 27, 2020

The Pierce County Relay for Life is among events postponed in response to regulations addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in North Dakota.

“As of right now, we have postponed the Relay for Life event,” Senior Community Development Manager Laurie Odden said Tuesday.

“We do not have a date set for that as of yet,” Odden added, saying Relay volunteers planned to wait until restrictions and mandates were lifted.

“We’re hoping to have it sometime in September,” Odden said of the Relay. “With that being said, we just have to see what other things get rescheduled and when we can find a good date for all that, so we just have to wait.”

“A lot of events have had to be rescheduled,” Odden added.

Odden said Relay organizers planned to hold the event in the Rugby armory as in past years.

“We decided we want it indoors so we don’t have to worry about the weather,” she added.

Odden noted the Relay for Life was important to Pierce County residents.

“Cancer doesn’t sleep; cancer doesn’t take a break for the coronavirus,” Odden said. “All of our cancer patients are still out there fighting every day. We just want to be there to support them the best we can.”
