RHS FBLA sees ‘A World of Opportunity’ at fall leadership conference

By Staff | Oct 25, 2019

This year marks the 78th Anniversary for National FBLA, the 53rd Anniversary for North Dakota FBLA and the 13th Anniversary for Rugby High School FBLA. We are very excited for this year; and our theme “A World of Opportunity” certainly indicates that the possibilities are endless.

We currently have 13 chapter members and the officers are planning a very busy yet challenging year of activities; fundraising, community service, leadership development and competitive events to name a few.

Recently, eight members of the chapter attended the FBLA Fall Leadership Conference in Bismarck, October 6-7. This conference is designed to prepare officers and chapter members for the leadership roles that they have been elected and joined to do. The expectations for chapter members are very high and include; chapter promotion, behave as role models, maintain high grades, serve as community servants, execute profitable fundraising, complete business achievement activities, learn and practice business leadership skills and work on our competitive events. The keynote speaker, Kyle Willkom, is the founder of Action Packed Leadership and has written two books on leadership. Kyle’s resume also includes the military and was a NCAA Division One basketball walk-on at Marquette University. His opening session and workshop presentations centered on leadership development and encouraged the audience to use his successes and failures to live their own action-packed lives.

Membership is still open for any students in grades 8-12 to join the chapter. Please visit with Mrs. Trottier and pick up an application. You are welcome to join us at our next meeting which will be held on Monday, October 28th and it will begin at 7:00 pm. We are meeting in the high school library and will start the evening with the Officer Induction Ceremony. Jenna Wangler, former chapter president, will be conducting the ceremony. A meeting will follow with a very full agenda. The next community service project will take place next month and is a school-wide event to collect food/items for the Pierce County Food Pantry.
