Muffenbier to receive rural health award

Area resident Dennis Muffenbier will be one of several 2019 Outstanding Rural and Public Health Award recipients recognized at the Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health’s annual banquet.

Muffenbier, who volunteers at the Heart of America Medical Center, will receive the Outstanding Rural Health Volunteer award. The award, according to a conference press release, “recognizes the contributions made by a community person who has volunteered to contribute his or her energy, time, and skill toward the betterment of rural healthcare.”

Other area award recipients include Rolette County Public Health District health officer Duane Glasner for the Outstanding Rural Health Career award; Mid-Dakota Education Cooperative for the R-COOL Health Scrubs Camp of the Year award for the camp they hosted in Velva; and Rolette County Public Health District Health Tracks for the Public Health Team of the Year award.

The banquet, which is open to the public, will be held Wednesday, June 12 at the Clarion Hotel & Convention Center in Minot. HAMC receives long term care award

Heart of America Medical Center was recently recognized by the North Dakota Long Term Care Association with the 2019 Community Service Award for providing 70 years of

qualitycare, service and enhancement to the lives of residents in long term care. The award was presented to Patrick Branco, CEO of HAMC, during the 42nd Annual Convention held in Bismarck, May 7-10, 2019.

In a statement from Patrick Branco, CEO of Heart of America Medical Center, “The outstanding nursing and medical staff at Heart of America has been caring for the seniors in our community for many decades and illustrates our current commitment to continue and to thanks all those who have provided this care for over 70 years!”

Mundahl, LaRocque compete at state golf

Two members of Rugby High School’s girls golf team competed at the State Class B Girls Golf Tournament earlier this week in Carrington.

Aly Mundal shot a +38 overall, putting her in a four-way tie for 30th place.

Morgan LaRocque shot a +46 overall, putting her in a three-way tie for 48th place.
