Amber Alert test May 23
The N.D. Highway Patrol and N.D. Department of Emergency Services will conduct AMBER (America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response) Alert testing from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 23.
Both organizations will test components of the system except for WEA (Wireless Emergency Alert), which sends alerts to mobile devices.
AMBER Alerts are designed to prompt community assistance in searching for abducted children. Alerts are recorded on the N.D. Department of Transportation’s 5-1-1 road and weather information system; displayed on NDDOT roadside message signs; NDRespone’s web page and at lottery terminals. Alerts are also automatically sent to mobile devices.
