Murder mystery meeting tomorrow

A preliminary meeting and casting call will be held Sunday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. at Rockin’ Relics in Rugby for those interested in being part of another Village Arts Murder Mystery.

According to the event’s Facebook page, the number of parts are limited but help will be needed in other areas. Jill Roberts, the point person for the event, said 7-12 people will be chosen as actors.

The performance date is slated for March 23 at the Rugby Eagles.

Village Arts did a murder mystery production last year to rave reviews, according to Roberts.

“People were begging us to do it again,” said Roberts.

Proceeds from the event will support Village Arts concerts and theater programs and supporting local artists.

Village Arts has been in place for five decades, continuing through support from community participants, patrons, audience members and the N.D. Council on the Arts.

Two arrested on conspiracy charges

The Rugby Police Department and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department arrested two at Envision’s convenience store in Rugby last week.

Betty Jo Enno and Brandon Lee DeCoteau, both of Belcourt, have been charged with conspiracy to commit theft.

According to a release from the Police Department, Enno attempted to pass a forged check at the store last Thursday. Store employees had been alerted to the passing forged checks there prior and called the police.

Forgeries of the same checks linked to both Enno and DeCoteau had been passed in the area over the past month.

Both Enno and DecCoteau are in custody at the Heart of America Correctional & Treatment Center, according to the release.
