Wolford garbage rates increase
This month, Wolford residents found they will pay $10 more per household for every three month period of garbage collection.
Garbage rates increased to $82 per quarter per household within the city of Wolford, an increase from $72 per quarter. Wolford Mayor Jim Wolf said businesses will also experience an increase of $10 per quarter for garbage rates.
Wolf said one reason for the increase in fees was a notification the city received from Waste Management, who handles Wolford garbage collection. The notification said that on Jan. 1, 2019 Waste Management’s collection rates would increase by 2.5 percent or more.
Wolford City Council members discussed garbage collection costs during their Dec. 5, 2018, and Jan. 8, 2019 meetings. During both meetings, bills from Waste Management were 781.84 and 781.37, respectively.
