Circle Sanitation starting Rugby garbage services

By Staff | Dec 28, 2018

Circle Sanitation began delivering totes like the one pictured on Wednesday. Circle’s first collection of garbage will be on Dec. 31, due to the New Year’s Holiday.

Starting on January 1st, 2019 Circle Sanitation will assume the duties of collecting the trash in the Rugby area, replacing Rugby Sanitation. The most notable change for in town Rugby residents will be the 96-gallon totes assigned to each residence. Doug Jones, Supervisor of Business Development for Circle Sanitation explains, “We hope that once residents get used to totes, they will be much happier than with the previous system of using cans & bags.” Circle Sanitation started delivering totes on December 26th.

According to Jones, “Because of the New Year’s holiday our first commercial pick up date will actually be on December 31st. Because we don’t work on January 1st residential and rural addresses, and some commercial addresses, will be moved back from their normal pick up date to January 2nd, 3rd or 4th depending on their location.

Some businesses will retain their current dumpsters, others will be receiving Circle Sanitation dumpsters. The Circle Sanitation dumpsters will also be delivered at the end of December.

Still of concern to Circle Sanitation officials are the out of town, or rural customers that may want to acquire garbage service for their home or farmstead.

“We encourage people in the rural Rugby area who are interested in continuing their current service or adding service from Circle Sanitation to call us at (701) 838-1182 if they haven’t called us already”.

Types of service can vary. “Some rural residents may want to purchase a dumpster, others will just use cans or bags”, according to Jones, “frequency of service will also vary. Some residents will require weekly service, others bi-monthly or even once a month service. We want to emphasize that it’s not a one size fits all situation. A simple phone call will allow us to discuss service options.”

Some residents have inquired about the recycling of cardboard. “Circle Sanitation is working with the city of Rugby on a cardboard recycling program” according to Jones.

On January 1st, two large enclosed dumpsters will be placed in the city of Rugby. One will be on the corner of 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street SW (just east of Rugby Hardware Hank), and on the northwest corner of The Family Dollar Store building. “The cardboard collected in these dumpsters will be brought back to Minot for baling and recycling. This is just a temporary solution until we are able to construct our own building and baling facility in the Rugby market.”

For Circle Sanitation the challenge will be to provide a seamless transition from the current Rugby Sanitation service and Circle. “There will be some last-minute details to iron out, but we encourage anyone with questions to call our office at (701) 838-1182.”
