Council purchases new street sweeper

In a special meeting Wednesday afternoon, the Rugby City Council approved the purchase of a new street sweeper for the city.

The city received quotes for $190,000 for an Elgin Pelican P three-wheel broom sweeper with single side broom and belt conveyor; and $190,900 for a Global M3 mechanical street sweeper

Ward 2 Council Member Dave Bednarz said the Public Works committee was in favor of the Pelican, adding “there’s just so many more (Elgin Pelican sweepers) in the state of North Dakota”. The council voted in favor of purchasing the Pelican.

The council also voted to adopt the Pierce County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
