First Lutheran to display nativity scenes

First Lutheran Church of Rugby will host its 8th Annual “Come to the Manger” display in the church fellowship hall next Sunday, December 9, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The nativity display features a variety of designs and interpretations of nativity scenes from church and community members. First Lutheran will also feature a “living nativity” display in front of the church, with animals and actors portraying the classic manger scene.
The living display “will offer a great Christmas photo opportunity,” according to a press release from the church.
First Lutheran member Karen Schilke said the church began the display tradition eight years ago. “When we started this, I thought, ‘If we get 17 (displays), I’ll be happy.’ Well, we got 25. And last year, we got 73!”
Coffee, cider and bars will be served at the event.
Schilke said the public is invited to share their personal nativity scenes in the display. For information, call the First Lutheran Church Office at 776-5801.
