Rugby’s surcharge rates for infrastructure repair and maintenance and for each thousand gallons of water will increase in 2019.

Other enterprise funds will remain the same.

In a regular meeting Monday evening at Rugby City Hall, the Rugby City Council voted to approve a resolution for 2019 enterprise fund rates and fees.

For water supply, the base rate for water meter charges will remain at $20 per month, however there will be a surcharge of $5.62 for each thousand gallons of water-which will be an increase from $5.30 this year. Funds will go to the Water Treatment and Supply fund.

Next year infrastructure repair and maintenance will increase from $4.24 to $4.49 per month. Of the $4.49, $1.12 (up from $1.06) will go into the Infrastructure Maintenance fund, $1.12 will go into the Sanitary Sewer Operations Capital Improvement fund, and $2.25 will go into the Water Treatment and Supply Capital Improvement fund.

The landfill surcharge will change in 2019 to $2; funds collected from that will go to the Landfill & Garbage Service fund.

The base rate for Sanitary Sewer in 2019 will remain the same as 2018 at $9 per month. A fee of $1 will be assessed on each gallon of water used, up to $12,000 gallons. Monies will go to the Sanitary Sewer Operation fund.

The surcharge for Storm Water will remain the same at $3 per month.

In a related motion, the council also approved policies for utility and garbage billing, tree and lagoon dumping and trickle water rates.

Other actions

– The council approved the second reading of ordinances pertaining to the Job Development Authority and tall grass and weed control.

– The council approved a progressive estimate and a resolution to finance the raw water main project.

– The council approved a payment of $13,725.90 to Samson Electric as partial payment for improvements at the city’s water treatment plant.

The council approved the minutes of the September regular meeting, bills and financial statements, and the Municipal Judge’s report.
