Bike giveaway a ‘great success’
“The Rugby Bike Give Away at North Star Community Credit Union was a great success.” said Tammy Olson, employee and coordinator of this year’s first bike safety training and give away in Rugby held June 12, Tuesday.
Chief of Police John Rose gave a bike safety class in the parking lot with kids participating in the training with their new bikes. Chief Rose donated his time to setting up the cones and area in front of the credit union to teach the kids safety, and show the parents their new skills.
There were 18 bikes given away, and numerous helmets and knee pads and accessories, as well as free lunch and goodies. “The kids seemed so happy with their new bikes, it was just great.” said Olson.
“I want to thank Envision, for helping us with cones and chains for the bikes. We want to especially thanks Chief Rose for the training, and the City of Rugby for all the help they were in getting us set up. This was our first year and we will do it annually.” said Olson. “We also had help from the community in donations and in fixing and repairing bikes so they were just like new.”
