Stamp Out Hunger Drive held in Rugby
An enormous quantity of food was collected at the 26th annual food drive sponsored by the “Stamp Out Hunger Drive” May 12 by the USPS local office. This year saw the greatest volume of contributions to date.
“Seven hundred pounds was collected in a 6-hour window,” said postal employee Nathan Kleespie, “and the Stamp Out Hunger Drive was highly successful this year.”
Terry Osse, from the USPS office in Rugby emphasized, “We could not have done it without the Rugby Panther’s wrestling team, who came out in full force and worked hard the entire day making collections, loading food, and helping us deliver. What a great bunch of kids to help us on their weekend hours.”
“People throughout the city were generously donating, and individual carriers in Rugby had to carry and distribute items also,” said Kleespie. “We thank all our employees, carriers and everyone involved with the effort. This will stock the food pantry shelves, of course we can always use donations every day, because the need is very great in Pierce County overall.”
