Fashion and Flair coming soon
Borth’s Clothing store opened in 1980 in Rugby and will close its doors on March 3 for the last time. Originally there were six stores around the region, and the Rugby store is the last to close. However, it will be replaced with a new concept store called Fashion and Flair Outlet.
The owner, Dyvonne (Borth) Zinck and her husband George, will be in New York during March, purchasing jewelry and other items for the new store- which will be managed by their daughter Kayla (Zinck) Brase, who will be the third generation to manage a clothing facility in Rugby. Darlene Borth, who resides at the Heart of America Medical Center’s long term care unit, ran the original clothing businesses known as Borth’s before Zinck. It will be a three generation, mother and daughter evolution. A trip to Las Vegas put the finishing touches on the spring line.
“We are excited to open the business, but not until after we have remodeled the store and its design, and have brought new items in,” said Dyvonne Zinck. “This will be Kayla’s creation. She has the ideas for this total new design, both in the store and what we sell.”
The Fashion and Flair Outlet will feature a children’s play area, as well as children’s clothing items and toys, men’s and women’s clothing, and some house fashion items. “There will be something for everyone,” said Zinck, “and a comfortable shopping environment for mothers.”
March will be spent remodeling, bringing in new merchandise, setting up events to showcase the new store. Zinck added “There’s going to be a lot of sleepless nights getting this ready in time to open the end of March.”
When asked how her new Fashion and Flair Outlet would compare with Rugby’s new Main Street Boutique, Zinck said, “I think there is plenty of room in Rugby for competition, and our store will be a nice complement, offering something different in Rugby.”
Ultimately the store will offer a place for kids to do crafts, play bingo, canvas paintings and for special events. A Girl’s Fashion show is in the planning, . A grand opening date will be announced in the near future.
