The Journey restarting in February

After a break in both December and January, The Journey support group will meet Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fox Auditorium at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

The meeting will be an open time of sharing and fellowship.

There will be a speaker for the March meeting.

STOP THE BLEED offered by HAMC

A STOP THE BLEED class, a nationally known class offered by the American College of Surgeons is being offered at the Heart of America Medical Center on Wednesday. It is offered to both professional medical workers and non medical professionals who want to know how to help in the event of an emergency.

The class is being taught by Jana Michels, RN, HAMC’s Trauma and ER Coordinator, with Ken Reed, EMS director. Michels recently completed the class herself and wanted to share it with Pierce County residents.

There has been a lot of interest in the class, Dani Schell, marketing coordinator said. The class is being taught in the Fox Auditorium on January 31, at 7:30 p.m.

“The class is very valuable for anyone that may come upon an accident, or is faced with a situation of bleeding,” Schell said.

“We are getting a lot of interest and people are signing up, and we are happy and excited about that,” Schell said. “It is a very good way to learn how to save a life.”

Esmond Ambulance to discontinue services

Effective Feburary 1, 2018 the Esmond Ambulance will discontinue its services as a licensed transporting ambulance. If you live in an area where Esmond Ambulance was your provider, you will now be transported by a neighboring ambulance service based upon your location of closest ambulance service. It is possible you may receive pre-transporting care by the newly-formed Esmond Quick Response Unit, but your transport will happen by a licensed ambulance service.
