Red Kettle campaign still accepting donations

Unfortunately, giving to the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign did not meet the goal it set of $3,000 for this year’s campaign. Laurie Odden, coordinating this year’s Salvation Army donations, reported that giving was at one of the all time lows.

“However, there is still time for donations to be made,” Odden said, “and you can give them to me directly by calling me on my cell at 701-208-0773 or you can take them to Bremer Bank.”

Overall collections were at $1,838, approximately half of what was expected. “Please give a little if you can,” she said, “because the need is great this year.”

Commissioners meet with townships

The Pierce County Board of County Commissioners met Wednesday afternoon in the basement of the Memorial Hall in Rugby with representatives of area townships.

During the meeting, representatives and the board discussed various items, including road projects, signage, spraying, cutting road ditches, FEMA payments, and snow removal costs.

One representative asked about the farm to market road east of Orrin and whether it would be looked into. “It’s been getting worse and worse,” he said.
