WEB EXCLUSIVE: Chili festival to be held in downtown Rugby

By Staff | Oct 6, 2017

(NOTE: In the community calendar this event was listed with just the word “Chili.” It should have said “Fire Prevention Week Chili Festival”. The Tribune apologizes for the error.)

To kick off fire prevention week in Rugby, there will be a chili festival starting noon Sunday in downtown Rugby.

Wristbands and bowls will be sold at the Merchants Bank park, on the corner of 2nd Street and Main Avenue. The cost is $5 per person.

The event is also looking for “makers” with categories in best-decorated area, mild and hot & spicy chili. Winners of each category will get a $100 cash prize and bragging rights.

In the event of inclement weather or if the temperature outside is 50 degrees or lower, the event will be held in the Community Building on the Pierce County Fairgrounds.

Free fire truck rides will also be offered during the event.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Rugby Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
