Fire department to deliver calendars

The Rugby Volunteer Fire Department will take to the streets delivering door-to-door the 2017-2018 Calendar the week of Sept. 18. The RVFD Auxiliary provides a calendar for every home in town along with the rural addresses they serve.

“The outpouring of community support is remarkable,” stated Auxiliary President Ashley Berg. “The department takes care of the community and it’s great to see that the community is able and willing to reciprocate.”

The funds raised by the department and auxiliary goes to daily and regular operating expenses.

“We would really like to commit money to paying off the fire hall, and reduce that burden on taxpayers,” commented Gary Kraft, volunteer fireman and Auxiliary treasurer.

The RVFD and Auxiliary are also preparing for Fire Prevention Week Oct. 8 14. The firemen will have demonstrations at the schools to educate students the importance of fire safety. To kick off the week, the Auxiliary will be hosting the Chili Festival, Sunday Oct. 8 at noon, downtown Rugby. Everyone is welcome to participate by making or sampling chili that day, for more information look for posters, Facebook or call Ashley Berg 701-412-1033.

The Rugby Volunteer Fire Department will also host a supper Oct. 21 at the Rugby Eagles.
