By Staff | Aug 11, 2017

Sara Bourne and Jenna Wangler, members of the Rugby High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter attended the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA, June 27-July 2. FBLA chapters from the United States, Puerto Rico, China and the U.S. Virgin Islands participated in this conference, where over 12,000 students had the opportunity to test their business skills they’ve learned in the classroom in a variety of individual, team, and chapter events against other students. One must qualify in one of the top four places at the state level, in at least one event, in order to be eligible to complete at the national level. Bourne competed in the Word Processing event and Wangler competed in the Introduction to Business Procedures event.

In addition to the competitive events, Wangler also performed duties as part of the North Dakota Officer team. Her position as the North Dakota State Region I Vice President will resume again this fall.

Bourne and Wangler had the opportunity to attend workshops, regional meetings, leadership sessions, network with not only students from North Dakota but students from all over the country and were voting delegates to elect a new national officer team. They also enjoyed Disneyland, a major league baseball game featuring the LA Angels vs. the LA Dodgers, a day-tour of Los Angeles and surrounding area, Huntington Beach, Venice beach, and Malibu beach.

FBLA is a professional organization for students interested in strengthening their leadership skills and pursuing business careers.
