On Monday July 17, Rugby FFA members Cade Heilman, Brady Volk, Collin Kraft, and Isaac Volk, along with advisor Travis Fritel traveled to Harvey to compete in the District 3 tractor driving competition. The students are challenged to drive a course involving many turns and backing up while pulling a trailer. The course is set to just inches of clearance on each side of the tractor/trailer combination. The students are also tested on their tractor knowledge by taking a written exam on tractor maintenance and safety topics. Lastly, the students must complete questions using the manual of the tractor, as well as looking at it first-hand. In the Basic division, Isaac Volk placed first and Brady Volk place third. In the Advanced division, Collin Kraft placed first and Cade Heilman placed second. All four members will compete this Friday at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.
