By Staff | Jul 21, 2017

Cathy Jelsing has been appointed to the International Peace Garden Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020.

Former Public Service Commissioner Susan Wefald nominated Jelsing to the IPG board. In a recent email from Wefald to Jelsing, she said, “I nominated you to Governor Burgum because I thought you would do a wonderful job and because you live near the Peace Garden. Travel to the meetings should not be difficult for youthis is a very special board with a long history of service.”

The nomination letter sent to Jelsing from Gov. Burgum reads, “I know you will work diligently to fulfill the board’s mission and duties. Your appointment is important not only for the board’s work, but also for North Dakota and its citizens. I ask that you keep in mind that you will be serving a dual role representing the board and the state as a whole. You will gain a new perspective by serving in this capacity, but it is also critical to consider what is best for North Dakota.”

Jelsing attended her first board meeting last month.
