Relay raises over $50K
Despite hot, windy weather and other events going on at the same time, Pierce County Relay for Life still went on last week in Rugby.
According to Senior Community Manager Laurie Odden, last week’s event helped raise over $50,000 in the fight against cancer.
As a team, Team Hope, led by captain Angie Busch, raised $10,188. The Event Planning Committee, led by co-captains Sharon Pederson and Vonnie Degenstein, was not too far behind in fundraising with $6,026. Rounding out the list of top fundraising teams was Daryl’s Refrigeration Chillers, which raised $3,208.
From an individual standpoint, Busch raised the most money with $3,995. Sam Rozmarynowski raised the next highest amount of money, $1,793. Yvette Rozmarynowski and Faye Hoffart were not too far behind with $1,717.
Odden said donations are still being accepted and interested persons can call 208-0773. A wrap-up meeting and celebration will be held Monday (June 12) at 7 p.m. at Dakota Farms.
