Judge Ralph Erickson nominated for 8th Circuit Court of Appeals

WASHINGTON – A former Rugby man has been nominated by President Trump to serve on the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

U.S. District Court Judge Ralph Erickson, of Fargo, is a graduate of Rugby High School, Jamestown College and the University of North Dakota Law School. In 2003, he was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as a U.S. district judge for North Dakota. Erickson served as chief judge from 2010-2016. Prior to that, he served as a state district judge for the East Central Judicial District, as a magistrate judge for Cass County Court and a county judge.

The circuit court covers several states and hears cases in St. Paul and St. Louis.

Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp said they support his nomination in the U.S. Senate.
