Youth activity registration next week

The City of Rugby will be sponsoring Youth Activity Registration on May 23 and 24.

Youth can come and sign up for a number of summer activities, including baseball, swimming, theater and more.

“[We] just started this last year, and it went over pretty good,” said Bonnie Berginski, who is in charge of this year’s registration.

Rugby baseball signups are available for all teams including T-ball, boys ages 4-6; Girls’ Slow Pitch, grades 5-8; Pee Wee, boys and girls ages 7-9; Midgets, ages 10-12; and Babe Ruth, ages 13-15. Questions can be directed to Alex McClintock.

Pool passes will be available for purchase, with family passes set at $75/month or $175 for the entire season. Individual passes are $50/month or $100 for the entire season. Membership passes include access to Aqua Fitness and Lap Swim sessions, as well.

Group swimming lessons will be available for $35/session. Sessions are held for two weeks and are offered for ages 5 and up. Private swimming lessons are $75/session for 1-hour long sessions over one week or 30-minute sessions over two weeks.

Open Swim will be held weekdays 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and weekends 1-5 p.m. Morning Aqua Fitness and Lap Swim will be from 6:30-9 a.m., and evening Aqua Fitness and Lap Swim will be from 5-7 p.m.

General admission is $2 for ages 5 and under, $3 for ages 6 and up in the morning and $1 for ages 5 and under, $2 for ages 6 and up in the evening.

Village Arts Children’s Theater signups will be available, as well. The show this year will be “Space Pirates,” a musical. Those in grades 3-8 are welcome to sign up. Jill Roberts will direct the show. Auditions will be held June 27-28 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals will start July 5 at 7 p.m. Show dates are set for July 31 and August 1. Cost of participation is $30.

Village Arts is also providing Ballet Camps, taught by Karin and Anja Selland.

Prairie Village Museum will have signups available for its Kids’ Art Workshop, held July 10-14. 10 a.m. – noon will be Monotype Printing for ages 7-9. 1-3 p.m. will be Book Making for ages 10-12. The cost is $25 for museum members, $35 for non-members.

The Museum will also have Museum Camp: Traders & Trappers Rendezvous held August 7-11 and 13. Morning and afternoon sessions are available for sign up. Ages 7-12 are welcome. Cost is $30 for members, $40 for non-members.

NDSU Extension Service will be having signups for its Youth Pizza Garden, held June 8 and 22, July 6 and 20, August 10 and 24 and September 7 at the Prairie Village Museum.

Youth Pizza Garden is an opportunity for youth and their families to learn about agriculture, where food comes from and what is involved in producing it. Youth and their families will help plant and maintain a variety of the vegetables and herbs typically used as toppings on pizza, with a family fun night in September for all who attended and helped with the garden. Pizzas will be made using the produce grown throughout the summer.
