By Staff | Apr 21, 2017

A Rugby man was killed when a train collided with his vehicle on the tracks crossing Main Avenue in Rugby early Monday morning.

According to information released by the N.D. Highway Patrol, Howard Duck, 41, was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Equinox and had stopped on the south side of the tracks near the, at the time, down with lights flashing barricade, as if waiting for the train. The Equinox then accelerated and attempted to go around the barricade in front of the train. The vehicle was then struck on its passenger side, ejecting Duck from the vehicle.

Duck was killed in the crash.

Two Burlington Northern Santa Fe employees were on the train, which was traveling at 40-45 mph, and did not sustain injuries.
