Otter Tail Power Company will be permitted to construct a new electrical line near Rugby.

At a special meeting and public hearing Tuesday morning, the Pierce County Board of County Commissioners approved a conditional use permit to construct a double-circuited 41.6 kilovolt electrical line. The proposed line will run from the 230 kilovolt substation east of Rugby, then north adjacent to 31st Ave NE and will intersect with an existing 41.6 kilovolt line north of U.S. Highway 2.

District 4 Commissioner Duane Johnston said he would move for approval if the pole was set back 35-40 feet from the middle of the road. The motion was approved.
