209 pops up

By Staff | Oct 28, 2016

209, formerly Backstage, will be having it’s grand opening on Thursday, November 3.

The 209 experience, as owner Randi Heisler calls it, includes monthly “pop up” style shopping with new inventory each month.

For the months of November and December, the theme is “Holiday Gifts.”

209 will also offer rental space for events, classes, projects and design, as well as have set monthly activities such as Pinterest project nights, wine and design, kids Lego building and science classes.

“I have always had a love for downtown businesses and was so sad to see Backstage go,” Heisler said. “I would really like to see downtown Rugby transform. I really believe that downtowns are the heart of cities and everything stems from that.”

The hours of the store for retail will vary, but will be held the first week of every month. Items sold will also vary, depending on the theme for the month. Some ideas Heisler has include a fresh flower bar and apparel.

“I decided to try something different, and I like the concept of offering new ‘pop up’ style shopping every month. My goal is to bring the out-of-town shopping to Rugby, so we can experience out-of-town shopping locally,” Heisler said.

Annie Bachmeier, a senior at Rugby High School, has been using her artistic abilities by painting the space with Heisler during the time leading to the opening.

“We are here to make Rugby awesome,” Heisler said.

The 209 opening will offer free champagne and fun surprises for those who attend and will be held from 5:30-9 p.m.
