McHenry County vehicle crash kills woman

A 73-year old Drake woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision near Drake Monday.

A 2008 Buick Lacrosse occupied by Dennis & Melanie Smith, both of Minot, was westbound and a 2005 Pontiac Vibe driven by Jacqualine Richter, of Drake, was eastbound on Highway 52. According to a press release from the N.D. Highway Patrol, Richter attempted to turn left into a gas station on the north side of the road when the two vehicles collided in the westbound lane. The Buick which took severe damage to the front and passenger side came to rest in the westbound lane, and the Pontiac which took front passenger side damage came to rest in the north ditch.

Richter was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot, where she later died from injuries.

The Smiths were transported to St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey.

The crash is under investigation by the N.D. Highway Patrol.
