Klein gets his wish
Connor Klein was granted a life-long wish last Sunday, August 14.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation held a Wish Reveal Party for Connor and his family at Woodland Resort in Devil’s Lake, where it was revealed that Connor would be taken on a Disney Cruise his one wish.
“It was fabulous,” Erin Klein, Connor’s mother, said. “We tried to keep it a surprise, but [Connor] has an older sister who spilled the beans. The volunteers worked so hard getting everything together and made it a fantastic day for all of us.”
Kyle Blanchfield, owner of Woodland Resort, donated a Pontoon for the party to be held out on the lake.
Volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Dakota, Kim Belzer and Kathy Miller, planned the party and helped make it a successful day for Connor.
“It gives kids who have been sick the majority of their lives something to look forward to,” Belzer said. “It encourages them.”
Lana Nicholas, one of the Make-A-Wish North Dakota board directors, said that Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children ages 2 to 18 who are considered to have a life-threatening medical condition deemed by their care provider.
“Most people think that wishes are only given to children with terminal conditions, but that isn’t the case. A lot of these kids do well, they just have a life-threatening medical condition, and we want to give them their wishes,” Nicholas said.
Connor and his family will be setting sail on their Disney Cruise in January.
