Rugby Airport receives federal funding

By Staff | Jul 29, 2016

Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp announced Wednesday that Rugby’s airport was one of two airports that received grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Rugby Municipal Airport Authority received $85,500 to fund a new lighting system for Runway 12/30, and pavement maintenance on the runway, Taxiway A and the apron.

Jamestown Regional Airport Authority also received federal funds to mitigate wildlife hazards at the Jamestown airport.

“Investments in North Dakota’s airports both large and small, will keep North Dakotans safe and on the move well into the future,” said Heitkamp in a press release. “These federal funds will make sure the Rugby airport has reliable infrastructure and the Jamestown airport will be able to prevent safety concerns caused by wildlife near the airport.”

Hoeven said: “It’s important to invest in projects that help to ensure the safety of passengers and pilots in North Dakota’s airports,” Hoeven said. “Today’s grants will support projects aimed at doing just that at Rugby Municipal and Jamestown Regional.”
