The Balta Street Dance is back for the third year in a row.
The event will take place next Saturday at 9 p.m. on Balta’s main street.
With the Fargo-based country-pop-rock band 8th Hour performing, and drinks and concessions provided by Balta Bar & Grill, Balta Bar owner Stephanie Hackel said she is looking forward to good weather and a well-attended event.
Hackel recalled attending street dances in Balta when she younger, and that street dances where people aren’t charged admission are practices that have waned over the years. Hackel noted a street dance was held during Balta’s centennial in 2012, but one wasn’t held regularly in the community.
“I think it’s important as far as something that is community-based,” Hackel said, “something to do once a year that gets everybody together.”
After Hackel took ownership of Balta Bar, she wanted to bring the street dance back. In August 2014, the street dance returned with the band Fully Loaded performing. The following year, the band Jacked Up performed. Hackel said that good weather helped with good turnouts both times.
The Balta Bar will also provide off-sale for the Balta Demolition Derby next Sunday, which coincides with Little Flower Catholic Church’s corn feed later in the afternoon.
