Commission Approves Land Use Permit

By Staff | Mar 18, 2016

At a special meeting Tuesday morning, the Pierce County Commission approved a conditional land use permit for Knife River Materials.

The land, located in sections 13 and 14 of Tofte Township, would be used by Knife River for aggregate mining as well as a temporary hot mix asphalt plant.

The commission received concerns prior to the meeting from area resident Becky Tofte about through traffic. Commission chairman Dave Migler said that approval would be granted on the condition that proper signage, speed reduction and dust control measures would be put in place.

The board received an application for a blade operator position.

The board approved tax abatement applications for inundated land for James and Timothy Tuchscherer.

District 3 Commissioner Rick Larson was absent for the meeting.
