North Central Dakota Ag Show Returns

By Staff | Jan 29, 2016

The 2016 North Central Dakota Ag Show will give local farmers a chance to visit with local dealers, listen to and chime in on current topics and rub shoulders with their neighbors. This will be the shows twelfth annual show on Feb. 5th at the Rugby Armory. The show features 33 exhibits, including six new vendors. Exhibitors are from Rugby, Harvey, Lake Metigoshe, Devils Lake, Minot, Harvey and Maddock.

The event has been known to attract hundreds of farmers and ranchers, and has been supported by the local agriculture-related services and businesses–who set up booths and display equipment. This allows vendors the opportunity to reconnect with clients but also to meet potential new customers.

The Ag Show also brings in speakers and presenters to discuss current issues and trends in agriculture today. This year at 10:30 a.m. Eric Volk, executive director of N.D. Rural Water, and District 14 Representative Jon Nelson will speak on rural water and funding for small municipal water systems.

“We will discuss some of the project possibilities for this area, including serving more communities,” stated Nelson. “My goal is to alert those attending the importance of working together to create the most efficient water supply delivery system that we can to best utilize state and private investment.”

At 1 p.m. speaker Dr. Larry Cihacek, an associate professor of soil science at North Dakota State University, will speak on “Managing Soil Health to Increase Productivity”. The speakers will present in the south classroom at the Armory.

The show has also tied itself with the annual Geographical Center Chamber of Commerce’s Farmers and Ranchers Appreciation Night, an evening devoted to celebrate the work area farmers and ranchers perform. Chamber members want to recognize how their work is important and appreciated to Rugby’s local economy. The Farmers and Ranchers event takes place at the Rugby Eagles Club and includes supper and entertainment. Tickets are limited. For more information on this, contact the chamber office at 776-5846.
