JDA Elects Officers
The Rugby Job Development Authority Board elected officers during its regular meeting Wednesday.
The board elected Fr. Tom Graner as board president, Tanner Johnson as vice president, Jacob Nelson as secretary and Pete Burgard as treasurer.
The board discussed the 2016 budget to be approved at the February meeting. In the proposed budget, revenues and expenses are expected to equal out at $360,110, however Executive Director Joseph T. Pelt informed the board that specials costs for Chalmer’s Addition is expected to be credited $68,125 for overpayment in past years. Pelt also informed the board that marketing/advertising was reduced by $6,000 in the proposed budget due to a future increased use of online marketing for lots in Chalmer’s. Sponsorships was also reduced, including cutting $5,000 that was given to SBDC of Minot last year for business consulting.
Pelt said some projects he’d like to see coming down the pipe include a courier and taxi service and affordable housing and possible student loan payment programs for young professionals coming into the city to work entry level positions.
“You gotta feed the pond,” Pelt said.
The board approved a motion to allow three people, including the executive director and the board president, to sign checks issued by the JDA.
The board discussed land value misconceptions surrounding lots in Chalmer’s Addition, and putting money from cash on hand into a new account at First International Bank.
The board approved the December meeting minutes and treasurer’s report.
