Firefighters Respond

By Staff | Jan 1, 2016

Just before midnight last Friday evening the fire alarms sounded and the Rugby Volunteer Department were called to 624 5th St SE. Fire crews arrived to extinguish the blaze, which heavily damaged the one-story house. Neither the homeowner nor anyone else was harmed, however, the owner’s dog is believed to have died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the ND State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The RVFD was called again late Saturday evening to a call that large flames could be seen from Hwy 2 East. The fire was a controlled burn and the fire crew was called off.
