Two Arrested on Felony Charges
The Rugby Police Department arrested one person and issued a warrant for another on felony charges last week.
An arrest warrant was issued for Shareen Poitra on charges stemming from a theft that occurred in November in Rugby. Poitra was alleged to have met and been involved with a male victim at a casino in Belcourt and had been left alone at his residence in Rugby. Several thousand dollars in property had been removed from the residence without the owner’s permission.
Poitra was arrested by the N.D. Highway Patrol following a traffic stop in Rolette County. The case remains under investigation, with more charges pending.
Joshua Adams, of Mandan, was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property, driving under suspicion and displaying fictitious plates.
A Rugby officer responding to multiple 9-1-1 hang-up calls from Eastside Village found Adams and three other males in the vehicle. Following a brief investigation, the officer determined the vehicle had recently been stolen from Mandan and Adams had altered the vehicle’s appearance.
The three passengers were detained and later released without being charged. The Pierce County Sheriff’s office assisted with the investigation.
