Answering The Siren

By Staff | Dec 11, 2015

Rugby firefighters put out a blaze south of Highway 2 last week.

Last Friday night, when the community was settling in for a nice dinner, going over Christmas plans or relaxing from a long week at work, a certain segment of our neighbors were rushing to the firehouse to make sure we were safe and unharmed.

A blaze that could be seen from Highway 2 that had many motorists calling into 9-1-1 to alert the Rugby Volunteer Fire Department of the situation. The fire that was just south of Highway 2 and just west of Highway 3 was first reported as a structure fire that actually turned out to be a brushfire out of control.

Whether it was a structure fire or a brushfire, Rugby’s Volunteer firemen heeded the call when the siren blares, and again they worked into the night until all embers were cold and any potential danger was long gone. Another fire was put out, another potential danger vanquished and another job well-done by the Rugby Volunteer Fire Department
