North Dakota Alive With Music
Last weekend several students from Ely Elementary, Little Flower Catholic School and Wolford School took part in the annual “Surround the State in Song” music festival in Minot. The event was sponsored by the N.D. Chapter of American Choral Directors Association.
There were 55 fifth and sixth grade students from 11 different schools present. Students are selected by their choir directors and rehearse all of the music before attending the daylong rehearsal in Minot. At the end of a long day of practicing, the students performed a public concert. The same concert was also performed in Dickinson, Bismarck, Jamestown, Fargo, and Grand Forks at the exact same time. The students literally “surrounded the state in song”.
