Police Dept. Investigating Burglaries

By Staff | Sep 4, 2015

The Rugby Police Department solved one burglary and is still investigating more in the Rugby area.

According to Police Chief John Rose, three adults have been charged, and one juvenile is awaiting court prosecution. More charges are likely as the burglaries/thefts remain under investigation.

Rose said a burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 6 at Schaan Oil in which cigarettes, candy, and drink items were taken.

Numerous theft from motor vehicles occurred Aug. 20, which Rose classified as a “crime of opportunity”, as the suspect entered unlocked vehicles. At this time there are seven or eight reported incidents. Rose also said the police department was able to recover most of the items taken from these vehicles.

Rose and the police department urge area residents to secure their property and lock their car doors. Rose also said that if residents on the northwest end of Rugby have had similar incidents, they should call the police department at 776-6112. More information will be provided by law enforcement as the investigation concludes.
