On Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon until 3 p.m., the National Guard Unit in Rugby is hosting an event called “Guard Experience Event” for the general public to attend. Similar to a career fair, there will be tables set up inside the gymnasium of the Rugby Armory, each table hosting a different task done by or piece of equipment used by soldiers. A number of stations will display weapons such as the M16-A2 now also known as an M4, an M-249 SAW machine gun and a .50 Cal. to name a few. Another station will display military vehicles. Each station will cover basic knowledge of the equipment we utilize to complete out missions.

There will be free pizza and pop for all attendees, and a free t-shirt for anyone who stops at all stations.

This is a unique opportunity for anyone interested to learn more about the National Guard and what they have to offer. Representatives of the Guard will be present to talk with anyone that would like to know specifics about programs and benefits.
